Future Equine Practitioners Weekend Successfully Returns In-Person

Three Independently-Owned New York Equine Veterinary Practices Host Premier Equine Veterinary Student Event

The seventh annual Future Equine Practitioners Weekend by Cavalcade was attended by thirty-seven second and third year equine veterinary students from six veterinary colleges across North America September 10-11, 2022.
After two years of virtual programming, Cavalcade Management Group’s independently-owned founding practices Millbrook Equine, the Equine Clinic at OakenCroft, and Rhinebeck Equine were pleased to welcome students back for two days of in-person programming.
“The Future Equine Practitioners Weekend is a great way for students to take a step out of the classroom and get experience with live horses,” shared Dr. Allie Catalino, Organizing Chair for this year’s event. “The connections between students and practitioners at this event help pave the way for career development. We look forward to sharing our enthusiasm for the profession with students each year!”
With an emphasis on exposing students to a variety of hands-on experiences and valuable discussions with practicing veterinarians, the weekend featured wet labs and discussions that covered a variety of topics. Attendees gained invaluable experience with abdominal/ thoracic ultrasound, ophthalmology, reproduction/ rectal palpation, chiropractic, distal limb ultrasound, and joint injections.
New for 2022, Cavalcade Management Group introduced a unique Intern Fair through which students had the opportunity to network and explore internship and externship opportunities with practices from across the country.
“Every lab and discussion was valuable… a wide variety of topics were covered… I learned a ton and got to network with veterinarians and other students.
